At this sad sad time, September 14, 2001, I am proud to post this tribute to our country. I am so filled with awe at the way our government and our people, including our service people, police, firemen, and all citizens have come together to help one another. It is with this in mind that I give some facts that have been sorely missing from the news and also some older facts which we have seen, but have long since forgotten. Read on...

This letter from a Candian newspaper, is worth sharing...

America: The Good Neighbor

Widespread but only partial news coverage was given
recently to a remarkable editorial broadcast from
Toronto by Gordon Sinclair, a Canadian television
commentator. What follows is the full text of his
trenchant remarks as printed in the Congressional Record.

"This Canadian thinks it is time to speak up for the
Americans as the most generous and possibly the least
appreciated people on all the Earth.

Germany, Japan and, to a lesser extent, Britain and
Italy were lifted out of the debris of war by the
Americans who poured in billions of dollars and
forgave other billions in debts. None of these
countries is today paying even interest on its
remaining debts to the United States.

When France was in danger of collapsing in 1956, it
was the Americans who propped it up, and their reward
was to be insulted and swindled on the streets of
Paris. I was there. I saw it.

When earthquakes hit distant cities, it is the Unitied
States that hurries in to help. This spring, 59
American communities were flattened by tornadoes.
Nobody helped.

The Marshall Plan and the Truman Policy pumped
billions of dollars into discouraged countries. Now
newspapers in those countries are writing about the
decadent, war-mongering Americans.

I'd like to see just one of those countries that are
gloating over the erosion of the United States dollar
build its own airplane. Does any other country in the
world have a plane to equal the Boeing Jumbo Jet, the
Lockheed Tri-Star, or the Douglas DC10? If so, why
don't they fly them? Why do all the International
lines except Russia fly American Planes?

Why does no other land on Earth even consider putting
a man or woman on the moon? You talk about Japanese
technocracy, and you get radios. You talk about German
technocracy, and you get automobiles. You talk about
American technocracy, and you find men on the moon - not once, but several times and safely home again.

You talk about scandals, and the Americans put theirs
right in the store window for everybody to look at.
Even their draft-dodgers are not pursued and hounded.
They are here on our streets, and most of them, unless
they are breaking Canadian laws, are getting American
dollars from ma and pa at home to spend here.

When the railways of France, Germany and India were breaking down through age, it was the Americans who
rebuilt them. When the Pennsylvania Railroad and the
New York Central went broke, nobody loaned them an
old caboose. Both are still broke.

I can name you 5000 times when the Americans raced to
the help of other people in trouble. Can you name me
even one time when someone else raced to the Americans
in trouble? I don't think there was outside help even
during the San Francisco earthquake.

Our neighbors have faced it alone, and I'm one
Canadian who is damned tired of hearing them get
kicked around. They will come out of this thing with
their flag high. And when they do, they are entitled
to thumb their nose at the lands that are gloating
over their present troubles. I hope Canada is not one
of those."

Taliban slammed over bin Laden appointment

MOSCOW, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- Russia's Foreign Ministry on Thursday condemned
the appointment of Saudi terrorism suspect Osama bin Laden as the
commander-in-chief of the armed forces of Afghanistan's ruling Taliban
regime, the official RIA Novosti news agency reported.

Bin Laden's appointment confirmed that a center of international terrorism
is being set up in Taliban-controlled territory, the ministry said in a
statement.

"Pseudo-religious values are being used as a cover to prepare a bridgehead
for expansion of militant extremism and separatism far beyond the region's
borders," added the statement.

This month, Russian media quoted Pakistan's Nation daily as saying that
the Taliban had named bin Laden commander of their troops. Afghanistan's
civil war concerns the Kremlin as hundreds of Russian border guards monitor
the Afghan-Tajik border and a potential spill of violence could plunge the
whole region into chaos.

Moreover, the Taliban's aim to build an orthodox Islamic state has given
rise to many Islamic extremist movements in the former Soviet republics in
Central Asia. In recent years, Islamic insurgents from Afghanistan launched
raids on Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.

The Taliban's ongoing clashes with the Northern Alliance movement backing
ousted President Burhanuddin Rabbani -- the leader of the government general
recognized by international organizations -- have alerted Russia and its
partners as arms smuggling, drug trafficking, kidnapping and other crimes
have flourished along the Afghan-Tajik border.

On Thursday, Moscow also condemned the appointment of Juma Namangani as
bin Laden's deputy. Namangani, an ethnic Uzbek, was liked to a number of
raids on Kyrgyzstan's Batken district over the last three years. Namangani
advocates creation of an Islamic state run by a regime similar to the
Taliban's and spreading over Central Asia.

"Incorporation of the international terrorists' leaders into the ruling
structures of the Taliban shows the need to take decisive measures to
collectively counter global challenges that are put forward from the
Taliban-controlled territory," said the statement.

The interesting thing about this is that Bin Laden having
been found responsible for the Trade Center Suicide attacks,
was at the time of those attacks,
the Commander-in-Chief of the Afghanistan Armed Forces. This was an act of war!
Was he representing Afghanistan? As Commander-in-Chief I guess he was.

This threat is far from over. Just today, 9/14/2001, more terrorists were detained at N.Y. airports with airline tickets dated 9/11/2001, and those detained all had phoney flying licenses issued from the very same air flight school in Florida as those who suicide bombed the WTC's and the Pentagon. They were all carrying knives and box cutters. Their destinations were all San Francisco. These people intended to destroy all of America, and the grounding of our airplanes and the closing of our airports was the thing that stopped them...but they are suicide bombers...they want to finish what they started!

He said that this one would be bigger than the previous two. As it happens,
2001 is the first year of the new century and September is the 9th month.
Manhattan is 41 degrees latitude.

A Prayer

Lord Jesus, we pray to You on bended knee in turmoil over the loss of so many innocent people resulting from the suicide attacks on September 11, 2001.

Please help the families to heal and help them to cope with their losses.
Help them to find justice for this brutality. Help them Lord...

There are no words to express the heartbreak seen in the past few days,
and which we shall forever remember and never be able to forget.
Lord, lead us as a nation to the path You want us to take, and help us to be victorious. We pray for Your mercy Lord, and for your protection in this time of need. Please heal us phyically, mentally and spiritually Lord, individually and as a nation. Give us the strength and energy we need for the tasks set before us. Lord, make us strong as a country, and guide our leaders in the ways of righteousness and justice.

We ask this day to be able to accomplish what needs to be done, and to be fair and just in our dealings. Lord, we ask that You take anything that is not of You from our midst, and to deliver us from this evil...We have been beset by this malevilence Lord, and we seek justice in the eyes of God.

Help us to discern the truth from lies. Help our people to always have an advantage, and help us to win the good fight spoken of in the Bible. Please Lord, protect us from untold violence and protect our sons and daughters if we go to war. Please God, bless America and God bless us all...We are children of God...Hear our prayer.
